3.5-4 Stars. Not my favorite Meghan Quinn book but still enjoyed it. It does have a third act breakup and I honestly didn't know how they were going to get through it. The audio was good and enjoyed these narrators

I'm just going to go with bullet points otherwise I'll start a rant

Pros
  • When something is bothering them, they talk right away
  • Very open about sexual preferences & needed adult conversations instead of being embarrassed
  • Accepting each others unconventional lifestyles even when they were just friends (him being a player, her being "crazy" vegan)
  • Humorous and cute interactions that made me smile
  • Dual POV so I got see they're equal obsessed with each other
  • FMC realized she'll never grow in her hometown & did something about it. I love that strength
  • The friendship he had with his teammates was super cute
  • The FMC isn't portrayed as a virgin type. She's had past lovers, they've done the job, she knows what she likes, and knows what she's doing. I love that, I'm tired of the "I've never been with anyone before" trope that's popular lately

Cons
  • FMC did not care one BIT about the house rules he created, after letting her stay with him for FREE & constantly ignored his boundaries
  • MMC hung on to the pain of
being cheated on by his ex with his brother
for almost 10 YEARS, who does that unless you still care for that person?
  • Physical altercations without remorse is a huge deal breaker for me, FMC should run
  • Her obsession with speaking for animals like they're people made me cringe
  • Him calling her "babe", kissing her and holding her hand but "no guys we're just friends" made me sigh in exasperation. I don't accept anything like that from my guy friends, crosses a line
  • Him blaming his dad & not holding himself accountable for his actions being a FULLY GROWN ADULT
(going to have sex with another women RIGHT after you break up with "the love of your life?" doesn't seem remorseful to me)
But thats just because he's "sad" and "in a dark place" so he's drinking, fighting and trying to fuck *rolls eyes* but shes just expected to be sad but still be alone
  • FMC did not have any real friends, unless you count the two other wives on the team who the MMC asked to hang out with FMC.

Overall a cute quick read if you're looking for a pallet cleanser. It didn't rock my world, nor did I find it difficult to finish. It's a nice average read.

Female main character irritated be too much. Author, whom I typically enjoy, made this character every cliche of granola vegan possible.

Thé FMC has zero concept of boundaries and consent and it’s nails on a chalk board.

I am into this series now, and am noticing a trend.... but I'll leave that part out.

I was happy to see the softer side of Maddox, but I will say, Kinsley... I really couldn't stand her! She honestly grated on every nerve, and I just couldn't rate this higher for that reason.

She knew his past and his demons, yet repeatedly disrespected his home after he told her she could stay with him for a while.

I might pause this "lol" series for a bit and just pick up the rest later. This one just didn't hit the mark for me.

Kinsley is one of vegans that makes you hate vegans, Maddox was fine but this story and couple did not connected with me and I love friends-to-lovers.

I’ve started this book out of boredom but I was blown away from the firsts pages! This was so fun that I decided to read the other books from the series too. Maddox was hot and fun in the same time. He had his demons, but who doesn’t? Kinsley with her “save the planet” mood hit me hard. I’m a vegan and I know it is. But my heart was broken with hers. I felt her pain while reading and I get it why she wanted more from Maddox. They are cute, so here are ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars and let’s hope the other books are funny too!
