This is an excellent nonfiction text for Earth Day! Get this next year for grades 3-5!

This was an excellent picture book explaining how Earth Day came to be. I had never heard of the fire on the Cuyahoga River, so I thought this book did a nice job of explaining the lead up to the fire, what caused so much pollution in the river, and how people were inspired to make change!

If you ever wondered how Earth Day started, is is the book for you! This a great book to read all year around but especially to help older elementary students celebrate Earth Day!

For my teacher friends, it's a great way to teach context clues, making inference, and cause and effect!
