Very fun! George is so nice. I liked that there were times she hadn't thought that she could do certain things. Fun to see that!

Dirty dancing reference? This one wins hands down for my favorite pop culture reference in Babymouse!

Babymouse Valentine Special. There is a school dance for Valentines and Babymouse doesn't want to be left out of the fun while she isn't interested in dating either.

This is my 3rd Babymouse and I finally figured out that the narrator talks directly to Babymouse sometimes. Haha, I have to laugh at myself. I'm still learning to ready a graphic novel. They are always changing rules and you have to be quick to keep up, hense, it took me 3 books to catch this.

This is entertaining and pretty typical valentine's story. I do love that there is a giraffe classmate. I adore giraffe's.

I first want to say I love Babymouse. I love her fantasies. I love the way she interacts with the narrator. It's so much fun. But this installment fell flat for me for a very specific reason.
I understand Babymouse wanting to be asked to the dance. I really do. But since she wasn't I was so excited that the narrator suggest she go by herself, I was happy that her Dad bought her a corsage and that her parents supported her going alone. But then... she has a miserable time. I know this is something that could very well happen - everyone else is paired off and Babymouse just sits on the sidelines alone. She doesn't start having a good time until a guy compliments her and asks her to dance. And suddenly, the night is redeemed! It's not so much what happens that bothers me as the message that it sends to the target audience. Read: you can't have fun unless you are part of a couple. Which is a terrible message to send to young girls who are already bombarded with this message. I would have liked it so much more if she'd found a way to have a good time even without a date. So, just a bit disappointing after a promising start.

I guess this wasn't a horrible read... I mean, it is what it is, but I'm not gonna jump to read the other ones in the series. Bo enjoyed it but she's 3 and doesn't quite grasp the finer nuances of great graphic novels for teens.

At least there was a tentacle monster living in Babymouse' locker...
