Styron so exquisitely and accurately articulates the inner torment of suffering from depression. An excellent read for victims of depression, as a validation of one's unbearable experiences, as well as an insightful and educational read for loved ones of those with depression, in order to better understand what one is going through.

mildly interesting. i can think of others i would have appreciated more. author was a bit meandering and distant. umm, maybe kinda like someone who's depressed. duh.
