My heart cannot handle some of the details in the books, but my heart is full and it was a lovely ending to the trilogy, but it did break me at times.

My previous 'issues' still hold true in this book especially with how prevalent the deava where in this one and the role they played.

However, ignoring that, watching Tea's story has been a rollercoaster and I believe the ending was justified and beautiful ending to the story. Tea and Kalen's romance is one that deserved the world, and I could read more and more about them, and Kalen is certainly an individual that stood by Tea from the very beginning even when we couldn't decide if she was the villain or not.
There was again beautiful LGBTQIA+ representation. Likh is originally a male character that informs his friends he feels he is in the wrong body, and the rest of the story Likh is referred to as she. However, I would have loved Likh to be happy in her born gender and for Rin to have explored a male character being in touch with their feminine side (I hope that is worded correctly!), but it was lovely how easily the transition was accepted by her friends, but the issues with the higher ups is highlighted without it bringing the mood of the book down.

Rin really did an amazing job of developing this world through out and you were constantly tossing about what side you were on and you were constantly learning new things that made you even more unsure of who you should be routing for. There was some twists that kept me fully engaged. And I can honestly say that my heartglass would have broken on the beach with Tea at a specific point, because the poor girl had already been through enough.
I did love how the relationship between Fox and Tea. I believe that it was a true representation of how a brother sister relationship is, especially with what they were put through and but in the end they were always there for one another and my heart ached for Fox when he said one line....

I really do think this series deserves more hype, in the terms of fanfictions, fan art, fart drawings etc because it was truly a unique trilogy and I hope that in the future it will be one of the lucky novels that gets developed into a series (I feel series are better than movies for some things and there would just be too much to fit into a movie)

3.0

The Shadow Glass is part 3 in a trilogy. It has the same set up as the 1st, where the start of the chapters are about Tea's past and the end is about the current happenings in the Bard's point of view. This time Tea is after the last and final Faceless, Druj.

I wasn't as impressed with part 3 as I was with part 1 or 2 even.

First part of the book Tea is facing her ghost from part 2. She now has nightmares and is afraid the dark will take over her heart (I don't consider this a spoiler, because it is in the synopsis). This section was alright, but it reminded me a lot of Luke in Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back, when he is on Dagobah training with Yoda. Tea's dreams and fears read a lot like when Luke was in the caves fighting off his anger. Only makes sense though, with what happened in part 2.

Mid section of the book was mostly Tea traveling to all the places left on the map that weren't used in the previous books. Using some weird, out of the blue, quickly thought up reason to pull her to one place or another. The story here didn't feel as fleshed out as before and more like new things were being introduced and previously patient characters changing who they were to support war just to push the plot forward. This takes up way too much of the story.

It wasn't until Tea started after the Faceless in the last section of the book that my attention was really brought back. This was what I was here for. Ending has a few surprises. Bittersweet conclusion. Having read all now, while also watching Wheel of Time on Amazon.. I think they should have picked up this series instead.

Even though it wasn't quite the end to the story I was expecting, overall a decent series. 4-4.5 stars together. I will be looking into more of Rin Chupeco's works.
