Rin Chupeco did not disappoint with The Shadowglass, the final installment in The Bone Witch trilogy

Without going into too much detail, every big question I had following the end of The Heart Forger was answered, and every one of Tea’s questionable decisions during the Bard’s chapters was explained.

With all the open plot and character holes going into The Shadowglass, I thought there were just too many loose ends for me to be really satisfied with only one more book, but somehow Chupeco managed it.

I can’t praise Rin Chupeco enough for the intricate web she laid out with the inclusion of the Bard’s chapters in the future.

Because of these chapters, the revelation of the Traitor within the midst of the asha didn’t come until the very end of the book, when it just made everything click together.

I sang my praises for the wonderful characters in this series in my reviews for both The Bone Witch and The Heart Forger, and my love for each of them has only grown since then (with one exception - IYKYK).

Tea’s growth from the frightened little girl at the beginning of The Bone Witch to the frightening young woman at the end of the series is astounding.

I cannot recommend this series enough. Although the first book is a little slow, The Bone Witch trilogy is now a top-five favorite of mine and I’m looking forward to rereading this series for years to come.

I LOVED this series. Each book was so well done. I loved the world, I enjoyed all the characters, and I even liked the ending. I was nervous that the ending would be unfulfilling, but it was kind of perfect. I will def be reading more from this author.

A great conclusion to the trilogy. We finally get answers on who betrayed the main character, and set off the events of the “present” storyline. Loved all of the characters and how they interacted with each other - lots of love and trust there despite the hardships and betrayals by others they face.

I have had a somewhat conflicted relationship with The Bone Witch Trilogy. The first book was good enough to give the second book a shot. The second book was my favorite in the series. And then there's book three, which was just okay for me.

I do think that book three wrapped up the story line pretty well and provided closure everywhere that it needed to, but I also felt like it started to get a bit repetitive. I found myself a bit bored at points and only really kept reading because I'd read so much of the series already.

All in all, if you enjoyed the first two books, I'm sure you'll likely enjoy this one too. It isn't anything revolutionary, but does wrap up the series effectively.

This was such an incredible ending to this series. The Bone Witch series is honestly now one of my most favourite set of books. What a triumph. I was not ready to leave this world and I don’t think I’ll ever really leave it and it’ll just live rent free in my mind and heart always!

hahaha yeah that hurt😭
The conclusion to this trilogy is peak emotions. Every book in this series just got better than the previous one.

My live spoilery reactions below!

first mention of Kance in the present!
oh snap, the mahogany hua is the one she wears at the beginning!
aww Likh is jealous 😂
hahaha Tea, "to read everything we can get our hands on"
oh the blight is happening!
okay so Zoya and Shadi are still alive, so who's left for Tea to have killed?? Althy??
okay I'm pretty sure the person Tea kills is Daisy, her sister
but wow these elders are hypocrites!!
so the bard is definitely the heir to Drycht, calling it
omg it is Daisy
OMG NOT LIKH!! But he's fighting a battle in the present, so not dead?
and who is the traitor??
haha I like the Yadoshans
Omg drunk Tea is so affectionate 😂 talking about Kalen's...talents
Bullshit Khalad hasn't thought about Likh that way
Okay this mountain test reminds me of Dagobah😂
Wait Kance what do you mean about being a kinslayer??
Which SHE is the traitor?? Omg I need to know, I have no guesses

Okay wait I took a break and had this thought. What if the traitor is the oracle, and she's actually Little Tears?? Or Dancing Wind
Wait no the traitor was dosing them, had to be someone closer

is it Inessa?? or Likh?? "taught to hide"
Khalad KNEW it was Althy??
wait the oracle is DRUJ??
KHALAD AND LIKH HEARTSHARE, MY HEART
NO KALEN!! I mean we knew it would happen but 😭
Fox 😭😭😭
OMG THIS ENDING

okay but going back to my earlier notes: Tea DID kill Althy, so I'm counting that haha
also the oracle WAS a traitor, just not the one Tea meant

I loved this series and I think this book is a great way to end things off. The way the books are set up where we are hearing the past while getting bits of the present was clever, even though I knew what would happen the how was still very interesting.
There were a few parts that threw me off a little, though. Some of Likh's moments seemed out of character.
Like when she slaps Tea when she is getting emotional. In the audio book, even her voice changes for this part.
I really loved Likh's character, so it was a bit strange.
