This was super interesting...I didn't love it as much as I did Alison Angrim's book, but Melissa lead a really interesting life and it was pretty entertaining.

I think, for the most part, I really enjoyed this memoir. She talks about a lot of the actors and shows I grew up watching, and the book is overall a pretty good lazy-day read. However, the thing that annoyed me is her claim to being a genuine addict and alcoholic. I just don't buy that part of her story. Not saying she didn't do drugs and alcohol, but I don't believe she was as hardcore as she wants you to believe.. It seems to me actors claim addiction to be a struggling badge of honor, and it's so played out.
Sure, she experimented with drugs, just like most people do during their adolescent, and young adult years. It's just so annoying that she wants you to believe she truly and legitimately struggled with addiction. Yes, I did enjoy her life story, but she comes off as someone who wants to be perceived as a flawed little miss goodie two-shoes. Hearing her talk about her "addictions" and AA meetings induced major eye-rolling moments for me, but other than that I really enjoyed this memoir.

btw, I hate the book cover, it's really tacky. It looks fundamentalist.

Celebrity autobiographies are almost always fun but sometimes so unsatisfying. It often turns out that the celebrity in question isn’t nearly as interesting as the people you know in real life, and that’s the case with this book. And if you’re looking for a warm and cozy peek behind the scenes of Little House, then skip this book for sure. Despite the misleading title, there isn’t a whole lot here about the TV series. In fact, I doubt I’ll ever look at sweet little pigtailed Laura the same after reading about Melissa’s romp around Hollywood. If she’s to be believed, every single actor she ever met was in love with her (although she slept with only about three-quarters of them). There is lots of very candid Hollywood gossip plus lots of parties, lots of drugs. At least Melissa’s chatty tone makes this a quick read. And her success in overcoming a very bad problem with alcohol is admirable. Overall, though, I could have lived without this book.

I would have given the book 3.5 stars. Although it was not a horrible book, it was not on my top 10 list. I really enjoyed reading about the days when Melissa Gilbert wrote about the Little House days and Michael Landon. I was hoping that is what more of the book was going to be about, and not her entire life up until present day. I guess though since it is a memoir, that makes sense.
I grew up watching Little House, and with the title, it intrigued me. I was a bit disappointed by the title or more to say misled.
As with many actors Melissa had a troubled life, and looks now to have things "in order".
Perhaps she will give writing a go again, and write more about her life during filming Little House, or more about Michael Landon.

Not as great as I thought it would be. She name-drops like craaaazy, especially in the most inappropriate situations. I wanted more juicy details about her torrid love affair with Rob Lowe, but she only gave info I could find on the internet. And did you know that every man in Hollywood has hit on her at one time or another? Not worth it.

Really enjoyed this one. The title is a little misleading as it sort of implies it will be mostly about her time while playing Laura on Little House, but that was really a very small part of the book. A lot of name dropping, but I expect that in a celebrity autobiography. A well written, humorous read!

Very different from Alison Arngrims Autobiography, but still captivating in it's own way. I rented it at the library three times before I bought it!
