Simon Gane, Your art is lovely and makes me desperately want to drop everything and move to Europe!

Story was just okay, maybe the format is too limiting to tell this complex story super well. Art lesbians in Paris was a promising premise tho

Wow what took me so long to read this? I loved this lesbian love story set in 1950s Paris! It was predictable but sweet, and there was a lot of flipping to the back to translate the French terms being said, but I don't mind at all. The art style is so sketchy and fun! I really really liked this

This Manga was cute. I enjoyed the mix of the french language and that there was a translation guide in the back. Their story is sweet. With the art style being different from traditional Asian manga, it helped with the immersion. The whole esthetic of the book was really cohesive. I would not recommend for anyone under the age of 16 due to some nudity.

In this graphic novel, a young American woman in art school in Paris makes money by painting portraits of the rich. She falls in love with one of her portrait sitters, but circumstances pull them apart until the sitter tracks down the painter. THere's a happily-ever-after where the two return to Paris to live out their dream lives together. Neither the story nor the artwork did much for me, but others might enjoy the happy ending.

I won't give star ratings to books that I worked on as an editor, but I will review them!

Paris is a beautiful book about love and art and learning how to use one's passion. Andi Watson's story makes what some would see as an unconventional romance seem like the most natural thing in the world, and Simon Gane's art is simply to die for.

Paris is a lovely little story of two very different women's chance meeting in the city of love. They share a love of art and leave a great impression on one another. At first I wasn't sure of the art style, but as I read on I actually grew to love it. The detail on every panel was beautiful. The story is both clever and funny, I only wish it had been longer so that we could see the relationship develop. I particularly liked the added extras included at the end of this edition.
I look forward to picking up more by Andi Watson and Simon Gane.

Read via Netgalley.

wish i would have liked this one more. the premise was intriguing, but the plot was incredibly superficial and didn't have a ton of depth, as i would have expected based on the plot description. the art was interesting but busy, and if this was a remaster since it was originally published in 2007, i would have liked to see maybe a one-shot at the end showcasing the characters' future.

A sweet, atmospheric story that makes me want to go back to Paris right now.

A few reviews have commented on the simplicity of the storyline, but the book is called Paris, not Juliet or even Two Women in Paris. The city is a character, maybe the main character.

When I showed pages to my wife, it wasn't the pages with the story, it was the pages that only showed the city.

If the untranslated French trips you up, there are notes in the back translating it. I didn't have a problem with it even though I know almost nothing of the language.

This was something different. Still had LGBTQ themes but the artstyle was very unique and different from what I'm use to seeing. The aunt looks like a damn witch having a bad day. But the other characters look just as interesting.

The visuals are busy and new to me but the story leaves a lot to be desired
