Murder mystery / thriller about university students. Leaves you wondering who the villain/s are through most of the book. Written in a contemporary conversational style.

i think the pacing of this book started out brilliantly—slow moving, beautifully described, and a decent enough cast of characters to keep me invested. and then the latter part of the book moves in, where every character that isn’t a part of the main trio is sidelined and forgotten and the plot just kind of...falls apart? i’m not entirely sure how to describe it, but i wouldn’t have a problem if other characters were sidelined for the sake of main characters, if the main characters had more substance to them. beautifully written though, i’ll give it that much.

I'm sorry but what a disappointment this was.

Reading the Synopsis and going into this I was expecting:
Dark Academia
Murder Mystery among 4 friends
Possibly a Thriller.
And it wasn't that at all.

When I started reading it I thought:
"Oh this might turn queer, because I am definitely getting queer vibes between Jess and Georgie, and Jess and Loran hard." And it wasn't that at all.

I thought we were REALLY going somewhere with the
sex in a black hearse
at the start of the novel too. But no.

This was basically just a literary novel. And I was BORED, especially from 40% onwards when I realised there was no
murder or queerness
happening.
