This book is wonderful. Having a story told from the perspective of a young girl during the recent conflict in Ukraine is so valuable. I thought the author did a great job with her journal entries and that even at the beginning of the conflict, she sounded mature beyond her years. I really enjoyed the extra experiences they included at the end of the book of some of the author’s classmates. That was awesome. My only criticism of this book is that it didn’t quite feel complete. I wanted more information about Yeva Skalietska’s life. I also wanted to know more about her classmates as well. It was so short and would have been an even richer read, if it would have been longer. But, overall, an amazing must read. 4 stars.
