Very dream like, beautiful language such that you sort of just fall into the world. Spends a lot of time in the authors childhood caught in a forever summer of innocence and nostalgia. The last third skips through the rest of the authors life quite quickly without the same depth which feels a bit frustrating. One assumes this is because, while autobiographical, the story centres on the authors relationship with their mother and it appears it was limited during the authors early adulthood. But it was hard not to feel that something a little more about the author herself could have been brought in here.
