Perhaps worth re-reading. I couldn't fully engage with the story, but I loved the characterisations.

I may be in the minority here but as a young fan of Pratchett and a fan of sci-fi I picked this book up and fell in love with it. The characters felt fresh and new, broadly drawn as to identify and imagine them, but specific enough to know them and their quirks. I still want to see a film adaptation of this and the only flaw is how upset I was when I heard this was a send up of Niven's Ringworld.

I liked this one a lot. The assassin, god, king that is Teppic is now one of my favorite Pratchett characters. I also really liked the camel characterization. Making them mathematicians is a really funny idea. I’m glad that the siblings didn’t end up getting together because incest is bad. This one had a lot of lore to explain about the assassin’s guild and the old kingdom, and I like lore a lot. The ghost king dad was also really fun as well as the different workers. I wanted Dios to get brutally murdered tho, but he didn’t.
