This book feels like a warm summer day at your grandparents' house in Maryland except you're home alone and don't know where anyone has gone. I almost started crying.

I like how this beautifully written story is told from the point of view of each member from one family. And I really appreciate how the book includes the family trying to reintegrate back into their old lives after they are released from internment. This is not the most informative fictional account of Japanese-American interment I've read (if I was going to read only one, I'm not sure this one would be it), but it is powerful.
