I have always held a soft spot in my imagination for big topics like the Fermi Paradox. Though it requires tonnes of information we do not have, it is an amazing intellectual experiment to discuss. I think one of the quotes in the book is true, when speculation deals with this much grey area, it becomes more about psychology than science.
This book displays 50 possible solutions to the infamous Fermi Paradox. If there are aliens out there, why have we not heard from them? Through attempts to answer this paradox, the book goes through fun romps into physics, biology, cosmology, and psychology. It was a captivating and philosophically engaging text.

I mostly agree with the authors solution to the Fermi paradox
Intelligence doesnt seem to constitute an evolutionary advantage to mlst species here on Earth, so it seems logical to conclude that intelligent alien civilizations are unimaginably rare, even if life turns out to be inevitable in planets with the right conditions.
However, I dont agree that means there isnt anybody out there. Nobody we can comunicate with, that is.

Otroligt ingående och infomativ. Inte perfekt som ljudbok, fann det svårt att hänga med i tekniska resonemang. Men tyckte så mycket om den att jag ska köpa den fysiska boken så att jag kan läsa om och förstå de tekniska bitarna bättre!
