First and foremost, I would like to thank Mr. Souza and Booksirens for giving me the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book.

This is my voluntary, unbiased, and honest review.

TRIGGER WARNING: INFIDELITY

⭐️⭐️⭐️
3 Stars= It was an enjoyable read.

This book was a fun read. The first 50% was enjoyable, but once the big twist (which happened in a matter of two pages) was revealed, the last 50% of the story fell flat and was fairly predictable.

Once the twist was shared with us, things just happened too quickly. The main character seemed to figure things out almost instantly, and there was very little buildup to her trying to piece together the tragic event that had happened to her and who had caused it. She somehow figured out the who, when, where, why, and how when she had very little information to go on.

Things quickly became over the top and almost unbelievable as well. While in the beginning a few things here and there seemed far-fetched, such as a housekeeper knowing how to draw blood and having the medical kit to do so readily available (which should have been a major red flag), they were doable.

The conclusion to the story was also too neat. The main character formulated this plan to set her life straight and pulled it off flawlessly and without any hiccups. The problem was solved with very little action. The solution was given to us in the form of a present wrapped in a neat little bow.

The story also didn't share anything about what happened to the main character after the situation got sorted out. It was just like this, this, and this happened to her, and life went on.

Overall, while the story was enjoyable and entertaining, it could have used a bit more substance. More buildup and suspense could have been added in certain places. But what we got wasn't too bad either.

I will be checking out other books by this author in the future.

The thriller heads strangely straight from the beginning and the reader is thrown into a very complicated mystery. The tone of the anchorman’s wife’s head injury in a violent attack is very suspicious. While the story unfolds, it is harder to determine whom to believe, tension and confusion escalate. I do not like to reveal any details about the plot that might spoil the surprises in the story. Only, therefore, the twists and particularly misdirections set the reader guessing as the clues are unfolded one by one. Even if you can predict the outcome, the fall of this riddle shall be really interesting. For lovers of thrillers who like to solve a labyrinth-like plot, I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to the author and Booksirens for allowing me to read and review this book.

A pretty classic domestic suspense novel - thanks BookSirens for the ARC.

There were a few small inconsistencies that bothered me when reading this book, but I thought the way the story built was pretty clever. I enjoyed the fact that as a reader, I felt like I knew what was coming, and I was only ever half-right because the author had brought in just a little bit more.

Quinn was an absolutely beautiful character and I loved the way she was written. Whilst her blindness was mentioned a lot, it didn't feel like it defined her, and it was wonderful to read a fully-fleshed-out disabled character.

I personally find dramatic irony quite stressful so I didn't love hearing the 'bad guy' side of the story while the other characters were in the dark for so long, but that's very much personal preference.

Overall a good read that I enjoyed, however the last 1/3 of the book I spent glossing over sections quickly and losing interest. The ending was lack luster and I was hoping for more. It was easy to figure out the twist midway in. Other than that I enjoyed it.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Joseph Souza and Level Best Books for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

3⭐ - Shay is married to Boston's most popular news anchorman and not so fateful Gideon Wells.

One night after volunteering at the local soup kitchen, Shay gets attacked - leaving her for dead.

After the attack she struggles to remember who attacked her and is accused of doing several things she doesn't remember, like harming a dog. Something she would never dream of doing before her attack however there is video footage of her doing this. So how could she deny it?

With a husband who's constantly busy with his job and a blind daughter Quinn, on top of Shay's own head injury. She decides to hire a new maid, Tatyana to help around the house. But can the new maid be trusted, is the maid really who she says she is?

Overall this was a good book, I particularly enjoyed the first half of the book - I kept reading because I wanted to know if the maid was who she said she was. The second half of the book felt too predictable and I felt like the ending wasn't really a fitting ending for this book.

Overall, this was a thriller. I debated 3 or 4 stars, but any book that has me thinking about it this hard deserves the extra star.

Here’s what I loved: The premise of this book caught my eye immediately. Head trauma and then things go haywire around the house and in life? A famous husband and formerly-famous wife? A parent who left their career to be a stay-at-home mom? I also loved how quickly things started going off the rails at the beginning of the book.

Here’s what I didn’t: the twist was revealed way too early. The POV of a 12-year old shouldn’t read like the POV of the other adults in the story. And while I’m a fan of completely unhinged plot lines, this one was even further unhinged and unbelievable than most. It could have been 15-20% shorter with mid-book editing to tighten the story. There were loose ends, plot holes, and unexplained wrap-up of certain things. And there was a lot of repetitiveness and elementary dialogue.

I would love to tell you this was a twisty thriller, but it wasn’t super twisty. I did love seeing the twist and then the resolution play out! But also would have loved a twist in the last 10-15% of the book to bring things home.

THE ANCHORMAN’S WIFE was an enjoyable book to read. It had a strong start right from the very first few pages, but after just a few pages, it slowed way down. The first entire part seemed to drag on. When part two started again, there was great momentum, and the book started to get more entertaining again. Unfortunately, it started to ebb again. The structure of the book reads as if a very solid outline was created. Strong development was added in, and then as if it wasn’t long enough, the author went back through and plugged in filler. The filler, at times, was redundant, didn’t move the plot along, or was just not fitting with the rest of the quality of the book.
I won't give away any spoilers, but the ending was definitely the most captivating and leaves us readers wondering whether there could possibly be a sequel.
