I got this book because I like Charlaine Harris. Turns out, she wrote a short story that was only 1/3 of the book. The rest was a story from Amanda Stevens, an author I've never heard of. It really felt like bait and switch and I was seriously disgruntled. But I didn't have anything else to read and I thought that maybe if Ms. Harris liked her enough to help advertise, I could give it a shot.

Ms. Harris's story was one of vampires. She's known for her Sookie Stackhouse series which included vampires and werewolves and a plethora of other supernatural creatures. I assumed that Ms. Stevens's tale would have that similar twist. But it did not. It was a straight up mystery. As far as mysteries go, it was pretty okay. But I was disappointed that it didn't have that supernatural theme.

I enjoyed both stories. Even though they are a few years old publishing this book has made more people aware of these stories. Being a Sookie fan it was interesting to read about some characters from her world. I also enjoyed Amanda Stevens novel and I'll definitely look into more of her work.
This is definitely worth a read.

This was an interesting read for sure. It started out with a beautifully done vampire story by Charlaine Harris. Then the other story was by Amanda Stevens which was mysterious and intense to read especially near the end where you were left on the edge of your seat. Both of the stories in the book were enjoyable to read, but it made no sense as to why they were put in the same volume when they were both different genres with ties of mystery in them.

One excellent; one okay

The first story, by Charlaine Harris was as excellent asi expect from her. Filled with the supernatural and wonderful characters and fun plot. But it was too short. The second story I didn’t enjoy as much but it was still good. Quite a bit longer but once I spot a grammatical errr I’m put off for the rest of the book. It’s ravaged, not ravished, when talking about damage!

This book has two stories in it. The first is "Dancers in the Dark" by Charlaine Harris. I cruised through this story quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it. The second was "The Devil's Footprints" by Amanda Stevens. It was a good, well-written story. I enjoyed it, but for some reason, it took me a long time to finish it. I can say that I was surprised by the ending... the twist was unexpected since everything was pointing a different direction.
