Bridget is a midwife in York at the height of the Puritan witch hunts. She feels it is her duty to all the women in the city to protect the innocent and when a friend is murdered, she is drawn even further into the events.
Third in a series. It stands alone but there are frequent references to the first two books. Interesting characters and compelling time period.
