This one is a reread for me, I decided to reread what I had previously read of it so I can continue on with it.  I liked this one better the second time around(I rated it a 3⭐️) the first time. It’s a ton of fun, it’s a nice mystery with some dark gory bits. The bits and pieces you hear of the worlds is wonderful and the characters are quite lovable.  like usual with novellas for me, I was still left wanting more but it left me excited to continue my rereads

super heartwarming and bittersweet-- i loved nancy and her little group of friends, and the way each person fit their backstories! i didn't think the mystery was too mysterious and i definitely guessed the
killer and motive
long before it was revealed, but that didn't make the story any less meaningful. each individual's special trait was especially cool and i was wondering to myself if they all had a little bit of magic, which added to the blurring of lines between reality and fantasy.

This story is completely unique from anything I've read before. It combines the auras of Lewis Carroll and Tim Burton, creating a multiplicity of worlds for the reader to step into. I loved even the characters I hated and got chills at so many points. A relatively quick read, but with lasting emotional effects.

While I was drawn to the concept of this book, I found the writing to be lacking in depth and characterization. McGuire introduced an intriguing premise and crafted an impressive array of worlds, but I couldn't help but wonder what could have been achieved with more thorough editing and guidance. Although the potential for greatness is evident, the work never quite managed to surpass that threshold for me.

This was such an easy and mysterious book! I read this as a buddy read, even though the person I’m buddy reading with hasn’t read it yet… She is going to read it soon though, so we’re going to discuss the book next week or so.
