Overall, average in all of the magical aspects while excelling at the character development required for this type of story.

I received an ecopy of this through netgalley; however, all opinions are my own.

I received a free copy of this book on NetGalley; all opinions are my own.

This was such a cute middle grade novel about friendship, first crushes, witchcraft, disappearances, and history. Set in Willow Cove, a town near Salem, it focuses on Abby, a young girl who learns she is a witch on her 13th birthday, and Robby. A few years back, Robby's mother disappeared mysteriously and he has wanted to solve the mystery ever since. There are other characters that the story focuses on including other young girls who gain magical powers and Zeus, an old friend of Abby and Robby.

I had a great time reading this novel and would highly recommend it if you like middle grade.

This book was fast-paced with lots of magic and mystery thrown in. It's a great story about friendship and coming-of-age, perfect for middle grade readers. I enjoyed the world-building/explanation given for how the magic in the story worked.

The different plotlines came together perfectly and the author kept me guessing until the very end. Most of the characters were compelling and it was hard to pick a "favorite". They were all unique, funny and interesting, with the mysterious Miss Winters very intriguing.

I think this book would be perfect for young readers who enjoy stories about witches, mysteries and friendships.

Thank you NetGalley and Owl Hollow Press for sharing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the two perspectives of this story and the action at the beginning. This book starts strong, but unfortunately becomes a little drawn out in the middle. The ending is really great and I am glad the author left room for a sequel. Fans of Harry Potter and other magical stories will love this book.

Really liked this book. Reminded me of Harry Potter meets Hocus Pocus. Excited to read more. Hopefully this becomes a series. It would also be good to adapt to TV.

This middle grade novel hooked me almost immediately with the story and with the breathtakingly beautiful setting it describes. The characters are well-rounded and feel like real people. I love that in the midst of all the witchy magic, the characters are also navigating the typical friendship/relationship issues of middle school. I will happily recommend this book to the readers in my life, and I look forward to the sequel!

I read this aloud with my 10 and 13 year old and we all loved it. It was fast paced and filled with mystery, magic and intrigue. I was a little concerned that it would be too creepy for my 10 year old but it walked the line without going over it. A perfect Halloween read!

Thank you to Owl Hollow Press and NetGalley for sending me an e-copy of this book. My review is voluntary and all opinions are my own.

What a joy this was to read. The flow of the story had be from the word Witch and didn't let go till The End. From the first page the action starts up and keeps going and keeping, but not at a breakneck speed that leaves us whiplashed but enough that we can't put the book down and have to make it to the end to see where we end up.

There is nothing I like more than witches, well I love young witches a great deal more. I love all the exploration and uncertainty of the young. Each character is their own person and you can tell them apart. None of that #hasthtag let's be TikTok hip with our novels. Just genuine characters in extraordinary circumstances.

The insta-love did annoy me a bit and I hoped a middle grades book would avoid it like the plague but it was easy to just skip over and get back to the good stuff. I'm really tired of every YA and now middle grades book throwing in love, relationships and insta-love at us. At this point its not necessary and we are growing weary of it.

I like the dual main characters aspect and the back an forth between them, with their stories converging in the end. It was very George R.R. Martin in that respect. The author never lost the story thread for each man character and was able to juggling the competing point of views.

Thank you to NetGalley and IBPA / Owl Hollow Press for the ARC.

Very enjoyable middle-grade adventure, never a dull moment. From the creepy, atmospheric opening to the solid ending, The Witches of Willow Cove delivered. The pacing throughout was excellent, the characters were well-developed and the storyline did not give anything away to quickly. A fun read, looking forward to a possible sequel. 5 stars
