this was such a strange read that i can’t really decide on a star rating for it. like i simultaneously want to ponder on everything that happened but i also never want to think of all the atrocities it detailed. 
objectively the writing is phenomenal, and the perspective we’re reading from is unique esp when considering the reveal at the end, but at the same time it seemed like i was supposed to care about the Priest after finding out what he did and like no, he doesn’t deserve that happy ending. that whole subplot felt wholly unnecessary. 
obv pls check trigger warnings before picking this up, it is Rough.

Beautiful prose for such a haunting story. This is not a book to be read lightly. However, if you can make it through, it’s an incredible read. I have no words.

This novel is unlike any other that I’ve read before. The plot/storyline is well summarized in the synopsis, but google for content warnings as needed. 
This novel is deeply disturbing, but so beautifully written! The prose in which the author writes had me completely *enchanted*. 
This novel offers a unique view into the lives of death row inmates, and the prison system itself. I cannot speak to the accuracy of this novel, but it make for a very interesting read nonetheless. 
This is a fairly short and quick read, but definitely worth checking out! It had me captivated until the very end.
