I was fortunate enough to be a pre-release reader of Death In Gravely Falls. I was also fortunate in that this read introduced me to Cleve Sylcox.

When I’m reading books with a mystery tone, I always like to play whodunit while I read. I watch for clues and see if I can figure out where the writer is going to take me. I did just that while reading Gravely Falls. And every time I thought I’d had it figured out, Cleve stumped me again and again. To me, that’s a master of storytelling… someone that can keep me on my toes and guessing right up to the end.

Some of the reviewers have mentioned that the book was slow to get into, but once they did they couldn’t put it down. While I had no trouble getting into the story, I can say without a doubt that I couldn’t stop reading. I keep reading and turning the pages and had to force myself to stop to do the many things in life that must be done. I love books like that and this one fit the bill.

Cleve has a knack for creating believable and reliable characters. One way I know the characters are really good is when I can’t stop thinking about them after the book ends. Sheriff Hank Crenshaw, the main character, was masterfully drawn. I would like to see another book with Crenshaw in it.
