I really interesting back story on Jacob Marley and Ebeneezer Scrooge. I want to go back and listen to a Christmas Carol to see what little things make the story full circle. I also listened to this and Matthew Lloyd Davies does a great job making Scrooge grumpier and grumpier as the time goes by. He also does the woman voices perfectly; a normal talking voice with no high pitch. I hate that! I'm eager to see how Jon's other books are.

Interesting but why make it so "dirty"? You can give A Christmas Carol to a child to read but not this book.

I thought this an interesting topic and approach but was ultimately disappointed.

I am not a big fan of authors writing a prequel or sequel based on a novel from another author. With that being said Marley the prequel to Dickens' A Christmas Carol might be an exception. Clinch has been able to capture the atmosphere and essence of Dickens in his retelling of Marley and his relationship to Scrooge in such a way that it is believable. Marley is a wicked man and his chains are heavy indeed. I don't know if Dickens would approve, but I thought this retelling was done very well.
