Great book for those not interested in reading. Completely changed my son’s mind about books.

So glad I took my student’s recommendation. Brought me right back to elementary school when I first discovered Captain Underpants

I read this one with my 6.5 year old. He loved it. The book is by the same author who wrote Captain Underpants and was full of mischief and silliness. It was very goofy and a good break from Harry Potter.

This series includes some of the most popular children's books where I work at Mesa County Libraries in Grand Junction, CO. I finally got around to reading the first book and I loved it! So funny and silly and fun. I see why kids love these books so much. I love the idea that these are comics written by the guys from the Captain Underpants books. Pilkey knows kids, that's for sure.

I'm not tackling this series in the correct order and that hurt my enjoyment of this first book. Characters lack the development they have in latter stories and the standalone nature of the chapters here don't tie together the way they do elsewhere. Also, I know the joke is that their teacher hated the one comic in the middle, but this teacher also really hated that comic. I thought the moral was cute, but it was super juvenile with none of the cleverness the rest of the series had. The portrayal and mockery of people growing stupid also really rubbed me the wrong way. Still, the surrounding tales were cute if not as polished as the series can be.
