So many things I like about these books; the clever way they are written, re-visiting and re-thinking some characters from other books, and a plot and story line that I'm interested!

I can't say it's a bad book, I remember really enjoying the first. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for absurdity of the comedy and couldn't stay focused enough to enjoy it. I think this is more my fault than the books.

The 2nd instalment of the Thursday Next series really continues to build the world nicely. It's still just as funny as the first one & a joy read. I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the original though. I found the various plot lines a little distinct and the way it was structured a little distracting sometimes. As I was settling into a plot line it would commonly switch to another disrupting the flow. I'm still very happy with the book though, and a lot of the negatives are when comparing it to it's predecessor. I've got a few more of the series on the shelf ready to be read and am looking forward to them.

I thought I didn’t really like this series but decided to give it another try and I actually really like it. It reminds me a bit of the saint Mary’s books but traveling in books instead of time. Fforde’s style of writing can be a bit hard to follow at times but it’s very funny

Hysterically funny! Another must buy book. Between page-, universe-, and time-jumping, Thursday must deal with fairy tales, children's stories, and punny names on this adventure.

This book (and the series) is for fans of classical literature and the humor of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I am not that person.
This was fine but I felt I was missing on the details because I didn't know about all the secondary characters in Charles Dickens' books. Also, a bit too timey wimey and SOOO meta about writing.
