A thrilling conclusion to the storyline started in the previous book. I'm afraid I won't ever believe a Holmes is dead until they've died of old age.

Almost too much suspense and emotion for pandemic reading. I had to go at it in spurts.

I forgot how much more of a thriller this and the last book were. I think I finished the audiobook in record time.

slightly less annoying than The Language of Bees, the first half of this story, but still irksome because of the usual issues I have with this series. again, if it didn't involve Sherlock Holmes, I think I'd be rating this series higher, as the writing is decent, and some of the plots are interesting. it just doesn't feel like a believable Sherlock Holmes alternative universe series, because of the lack of John Watson (Mycroft and Mrs. Hudson get more time), and Sherlock seems to become severely mellow and figuratively castrated by his wife. there's only faint traces of the original character. it could just be me though.

This is the 10th book in Laurie King's Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series. They're great fun - page-turning, intelligent mysteries. Holmes' long-unknown son and granddaughter have been introduced so the series could continue for a long time. Lisa and I will keep reading them.

Continuation of and conclusion of The Language of Bees. Interesting characters and adventures from London to the Orkney Islands.
