Very simple. I like the idea that strawberries can remind you to be kind but why weren't raspberries or other berries enough to get the woman's attention?

This was my daughter’s July Imagination Library book. I loved learning about this old Cherokee Legend, and the representation in this book. My daughter enjoyed this book pretty well, and I’m sure this will be a book that gets reread in the future.

One of the most important books about relationships that I have ever read.

Reading the title and then reading this book it was not what I had expected. It began by telling us a story about a man and a woman who were placed together and fell in love. They were very happy until the husband came home and she had not yet made dinner instead she was picking flowers. As a result she and her husband had an argument and she said she no longer wanted to be his wife. She ran away and even though he followed her he couldn't catch up. With the help of the sun he tried catching up by placing berries around her until she stopped for the strawberries and they were reunited.

After reading this story you get a sense of love and kindness. While there was a fight between the two human characters you see them forgive one another. This goes towards the moral which is forgiveness and kindness are the best qualities to live a fruitful life. The other character, the sun, is an interesting choice and he ends up helping the husband find his wife. But why pick a sun? I think its because he was the "eyes" always watching over them and he saw the love and kindness. Knowing that people make mistakes he still choose to help him because he knew that his heart was in the right place. The setting was this beautiful forest which helped aid in finding the beautiful strawberries that brought these two people back together.
