A fantastic follow up to the first book.
I loved that I wasn't constantly conscience of the fact that this is a "YA" book, it was just a book.
This book has great spunky characters that i absolutely adore.
Fast paced, full of action, I wasn't ready to let it go when it was over. So excited for the next book!

Better than the first!

The trials are really amping up and Wild and her crew are just trying to blend in...too bad they fail impossibly! Except now students are starting to disappear and it hits a bit too close to home for Wild to avoid.
At the start of the series Wild is seen as a Shade, a magical assassin good at getting in and getting out unseen. As book two progresses we see Wild questioning if she was labeled correctly. She is showing abilities to multiple houses and the o my other person in the history of The Academy to do so was the Sandman...someone she does not want to be like. If students showing aptitude in a house labels them to disappear, will Wild be next or will showcasing her group as viably working together as a team be enough to get the heat off her?
Some questions were answered but many more cropped up, the perfect way for an author to reel you in for more. Can’t wait to read the next!

Loved this book! The characters are well developed, the plot is great and it leaves you hanging at the end. Wild is the lead female protagonist and boy does she have attitude.
I love Wild and how unapologetically tough she is. She is a fierce and loyal friend. She does not cower or take a back seat when trouble heads her way. No, she faces it head on.
This book is the second in the series and picks up where the first one left off. So I highly recommend that you read the first book in the series before this one.
I love the Rory is back in Wilds life, I am glad she let him have it when she found out he had lied to her, even if he had a great explanation for doing so.
If you loved Harry Potter and the Hunger games you will love this book and series as well. This is full of action, has vampires, unicorns, Trolls and goblins in it.
The story will suck you in and before you know it you will be turning the last page and thinking No! Don't leave me hanging here.

So I kept thinking I was missing part of the story here, and it turns out I was. I read this prior to reading book 1. I give this book three stars for imagination and creativity but nothing about it got me vested. I read it from a distance. So I won't bother reading more.

I guess gender is a hard secret

Oh this book was fun! The characters sped through a couple trials and had some amazing experiences - like riding alicorns! I know Wild is making an impression on everyone, but I feel like she's making allies all over the place. I do not trust Rory.
