It took some times before the story started to get interesting, and I was just rolling my eyes everytime the character acted like children or suddenly became suspicious of each other for random reasons. I really loved Harristan's chapters and character and I can't wait for the next books to now what will happen to every characters!

This series continues to surprise me and surpass my wildest expectations. Simply, THIS SERIES IS GOLD. There are so few fantasy series on this level that are able to transcend generations. It's one that's fun for both adults and teens alike. I realllyyyy hope it gets the screen treatment at some point. I'd love to see it. It's got all the makings of a truly classic YA fantasy series. I cannoooooot wait until January to read the final installment. Gahhhh! Give it to me now.
Some Nitty-Gritty: The beginning moves a bit less, but by the the middle, I was hooked again and couldn't put it down. The characterization is so good. I am constantly trying to figure out if I love or hate Corrick and I just love that Kemerer is able to pull those emotions out of me. Tessa never wavers- I am always rooting for her. You get more of other characters here, but I'm hoping for even more of Quint. I love him!
I think I'll continue shouting about this series to anyone who will listen. GO READ.

I like the first one better but I can feel the tension in this one and it’s interesting I like how it developed and how some of the other characters got more background and plot.
I appreciated how the story meshed new characters with old - it felt natural that the core group would change as the story developed.
Somehow the second book in the series is in even better.
The plot is even more interesting with the voyage aspect and more court politics.
