Brigid Kemmerer keeps slaying and slaying. I immediately put a hold on the third book on Libby. The third book is a medical necessity for my sanity and my happiness.
As always with Brigid Kemmer, the writing is glorious. I especially loved seeing Harristan's point of view as well. I was extremely curious about him in the last book, so I'm happy we got to dig into his head in this one.
I still love the characters, of course. They're so frickin well written and they have dimension, and I love them with my entire being.
I also loved that we explored the world a little more here. And I always love a story that takes place on the ocean.
And then, of course, the continuation of the romance. I was absolutely obsessed. THE ONE BED TROPE PART OF THIS WAS JUST SO ADORABLE.
But, yeah. I loved this, and I need to read the third book immediately.

This is such an underrated fantasy series that deserves so much more hype. It’s so well written, it’s easy to fall in love with all the characters, and I love Tessa and Corrick’s arcs. Plus the twists are truly chef’s kiss. I honestly am not surprised by plots very much since I read so much lol but for both of these books in the series, I’ve had multiple jaw drops.
I absolutely cannot wait for the third book in this series. These are the kind of fantasy books I hope to write one day—smart, political, but full of tenderness between the characters.

I liked this well enough. It had a bit of a slow start, and like the first one I feel like it's quite forgettable.
