When I was reading this story, I spend the whole time waiting for a revelation of “the secret” the lonely old guy, who died at the very beginning, supposedly held. Of course, that guy never came up again, because “the secret” was revealed right on the spot at the very beginning — he had a lover. I think I got to read it again, someday.

Its my second book written by marquez, and i still dont know if i like his books. I habe mixed feelings about this, at the beginning i thought, this will be one of my fav books, but at the and my thoughts were about love, like, is this book even about love?

I thought it was funny and I liked the writing but I hated every character (except Urbino maybe but even he’s not great) I didn’t feel connected to Florentino, found him creepy and thus didn’t really care for his romance with Fermina which is kind of the purpose but I still had a great time because it’s obviously very skilled
