While I laughed out loud at parts of the book, I really struggled with others. I realize that the writing reflects a particular time in history, but it was hard to listen words and descriptions of abuse that are unacceptable, especially by today's standards. I did enjoy learning more about Zora Neale Hurston, and the narrator of the audiobook, Bahni Turpin, made the experience for me. Read if you enjoy: Harlem Renaissance, autobiographies, learning about the lives of authors, feisty women, rural Florida
