3.5 rounded up to 4 because the illustrations are adorable! In fact, they work so well that you don't need words to understand the story. One Winter night, the animals in the forest get together to build a sleigh so they can travel to see the northern lights. That's it. And it's enough! This book's warmth and whimsy reminded me a little of the 1975 Soviet animation "Hedgehog in the fog".

Wood creatures build a sleigh for a special purpose. Nice children's picture book with watercolor illustrations and rhyming text. A little scary when they went bump, bump, bump, and lost control on a steep slope, lol.

So sweet!

The book is about animals getting along and working together for a common goal. It’s written in verse, and the illustrated animals are friendly looking.

This is a lovely story of animals working together as a team, cute, beautiful artwork and it rhymes.

Bought this for my wife (who is a Montessori preschool teacher) because I thought the illustrations looked cool in a 'preview' I saw of it. I will say I don't know that the story makes a great deal of 'sense' -- although it's not really supposed to. The poem that is the story didn't really wow me, but it was the impetus for a lot of fun, dynamic illustrations that I really loved, even if I don't really get why the characters were doing what they were doing. Well, that is to say, I understood the end goal, but it seems they went to a lot of unnecessary work, especially the birds, but kudos to them for helping out.

It’s so pretty!

The Art: Gorgeous! I love the flow of the color scheme throughout the entire book. It makes you want to curl up in front of a fire with your furry family members.

The Story: So sweet and rhythmic with its rhymes. While some words maybe too large or hard to sound out for kids learning to read, the relationship of words in each sentence may help them to recognize them in the future. A hard copy is all I want for Christmas!
