I enjoyed this story. It wasn’t like other books I’ve loved where I felt eager to read it every day which is why I couldn’t give the book a higher rating. However I really liked that the author wrote from the perspective of two very different sisters. I also appreciated that this book displayed what this war may have been like for the women. I was so sad how the story ended however I felt like it was helpful towards painting a picture of how devastating WWII really was.

It’s hard to put into words the emotional journey this book takes you through. It is beautifully written and gives a new perspective to the horrors that happened in ww2.

I loved this novel. It was a different ww2 book perspective for me and esp resonating as my family is from the area and I had heard some similar stories. While there were some cliches and the random French words were a turn off, it had a great cadence esp the first half of the book, beautiful writing (making it very easy to visualize), a few twists and turns, and some good characters. Read super smooth and easily for a longer book. I couldn't stop reading.
