I never know how I’m supposed to feel about this type of narrator…I do understand that she is supposed to be unlikeable and a bad person, but there has to be a better way to convey that while still making your book enjoyable to read. I feel like it’s a good concept that someone else could have executed more masterfully, but this narrative voice was super irritating, as well as inconsistent? She swings between being like a pretentious and secluded writer to sounding like a pink-pussy hat millennial, it really undermines what the author so desperately wants you to think of her. I would not have finished this book if I wasn’t stuck on a plane with literally nothing else to do. Completely falls apart at the end, gets a 1.5 just for the food descriptions-those made my mouth water. Irredeemable in every other instance.

I just don’t have the stomach for gore that I used to have nowadays. Well-written and interesting with good characters but a bit hard to get through due to sheer detail of some of the bloodier scenes.

This is simultaneously one of the goriest and horniest books I’ve ever read
