Brilliantly written, vividly portrayed and gets the heart rate going better than a 4K run (and I don’t do 4K runs!). Some old characters and a few newbies, all are very well rounded and easy to empathise with or despise. My sleeping pattern is completely destroyed thanks to this abhorrent novel
adventurous challenging dark informative tense fast-paced

This book suffers from "middle book syndrome". Since I don't have any particular interest of a blow by blow description of everything, I felt it was long and written for the sole purpose of producing a book two. It could have been condensed into maybe four or five chapters and tacked onto the end of book one or the beginning of book three. I'm debating if I even want to bother reading the next in the series.

Also, on a side note, I spent a few years in Maine and it's not exactly a sweltering hot place; in the dead of summer the average high temperature in Portland is less than 80 degrees. Maybe the author could stop referencing the blazing hot days in the area?
