alittle hard to get into at first but then it turns into a pager turner unexpectedly.

Do you want to read about the male sleeping with everyone? Male and female? Even if it isn't the woman he's courting? (The protagonist) Then this is the book for you!

Tries to sleep with the protagonist and when she turns him down, he goes off and has a blowjob from some chick. Nice. And I loved reading about it. Can you sense my sarcasm?

And god it pissed me off that this strong female protagonist just took his bull shit. Couldn't even finish, even with the hundred billion sex scenes.

I thought this was a lot better than I expected. It was also nice in that there was an actual plot involved here as well. Probably closer to a 3.5 star rating but it was a lot of fun so I bumped it to four.

This is like the book version of Jupiter Ascending: it's bad but in the best way possible.
This thing is basically a bunch of my favourite tropes all rolled into one: fantasy (no magic), nautical, pirate captain and dominant heroine, a smattering of political intrigue and plenty of sex.
Things I loved: the world building was interesting - I would want to spend more time in this world. There were characters of colour, various sexualities and even a transgender character that were all treated with respect. Women were allowed to be just as sexually experienced as men.
The plot was kind of a mess, and the relationship development was pretty meh (I would have preferred if it started when they first met). The main characters were ok - not a huge amount of personal development. But entertaining enough. The writing was also ok.
I would have liked it to be a little more spicy - it's a little to vanilla with all that promise.
If this is part of a series, I will track down the others.
