I forgot I read this book around 10 years ago when I read the other hitchhiker books for the first time.

I think this book written by Colfer, after the original author Douglas Adams died very young, does manage to capture the tone and some of the magic of the first books. It was fun revisiting the characters
especially Zaphod who was left out of the last book. And learning about Wowbanger.

I think listening to the audiobook version helps make it feel more like a hitchhiker book, as the narrator really sounds like the first narrator, Stephen Frye as does a great job with the voices.

What I found was that the dialogue scenes felt very long compared to the other books. Also this book is twice the length of the average length of the previous books. Adams books felt like you were jumping more quickly from scene to scene. Also there were a lot of call backs to previously mentioned things and a lot more "guide notes" insertions than the other books.

I watched several YouTube interviews of Colfer and he was very respectful of Adams and the original work. In the video he said something along the lines of: "the best thing that could happen were if fans said it's not Douglas Adams but it's funny", which I think he achieved.
