I'm a fan of Jay Hosler's graphic novels - I loved Clan Apis before it was rereleased as The Way of the Hive, and The Last of the Sandwalkers was interesting in a different way; Ant Story tells yet another kind of story!
From what I read about it, I'd expected something closer to Clan Apis, and it was in some ways, but also added a charmingly divided peek from the voice of a cartoon ant - specifically, as she points out, in the story. She is the only cartoon ant around, and going a little crazy from isolation, and her stories are an escape as well as a dramatic occupation.
It touches on behaviours and life cycles of an array (limited, of course; there's a lot of species) of ant species, and some other insects as well, in Rubi's inimitable style, as well as her own story . . . departing from the loneliness and staid repetition of her life for the past decades (!). . .

This is a wonderful story. I had my 7 year old read it as well and he immediately asked to read the next book in the series.
The story is cute and there is tons of fun info about ants and other insects.
