I started this book at about 12:30 this afternoon while substitute teaching. It is now 10:30 pm and I just finished. (I also took a 2 hour nap in there somewhere).
I couldn't put this book down, which is often what happens with Hugh Howey books. I love his characters and his post apocalyptic universes. I devoured the Silo series, Half Way Home, and now Sand.
Loved it! Would love to read more about Vic and her family!

This felt a little shorter and less complex than any of the three "Wool" omnibus's. I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next Sand omnibus.

I really liked the story. It started very strong, book two didn't really appeal to me but books three through five were better again. Overall I liked Wool much better, but nevertheless Sand is quite exceptional.

TL;DR: Read this book, but be prepared to fill in the backstory yourself.

I'm mad. Don't get me wrong -- I loved reading this book. But there are just too many unanswered questions for me to be content with the ending of this book. In fact, I didn't realize it was the end until I glanced down at the bottom of my kindle and saw I was 96% of the way through. There were some dramatic moments and the characters are as well-developed as I'd come to expect, but for me to get so immersed in this world only to come out of it with so few answers leaves me frustrated. A sequel would be lovely, Mr. Howey.

I enjoyed this book, about the same as Wool. Unlike Wool, this book took me longer to get into the story and become invested in the characters, however once I was half way through I was immersed. It was a good story with the right amount of action, world building and character building. I hope he writes a sequel!

A page-turning thriller in the kind of strange world that Howey knows how to build and draw you in!

By not tying the story to a specific time, it allows a timeless exploration of themes that never get old– family, loyalty, survival, truth, and fate. By creating landscapes and experiences that are alien yet familiar, Sand explores our world through a new set of eyes, asking us to examine what we know and what we take for granted. As with Howey’s other series, Sand has a tone and rhythm that evokes the mythology and perspective of its culture. It creates an experience that is at once recognizable and new.

Great writing and character development, as always with Mr. Howey, but the rushed ending left me wanting more.

Really cool concepts. I especially enjoyed the sand diving aspects, creative stuff. The story was well told as it was woven throughout the characters. Some parts of the plot were a little thin, but really this was an enjoyable read. If you liked [b:Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1)|13453029|Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1) (Wool, #1-5)|Hugh Howey|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1349614200s/13453029.jpg|18979356] and it's successors, you'll probably like this, and vice versa. There are thematic similarities but Sand stands well all on it's own.
