Wes always seemed to be a ‘glass half full’ guy, but it’s justifiable after his mother, then recently his sister died. Leaving him to care for his niece. He’s gorgeous man, who will do anything for that sweet girl, but he forgets to LIVE.

Enter Braden a larger-than-life, carefree guy, who, though he has questionable respect for boundaries, is a purely good soul. And when he sets his sights on you, there is nothing he wouldn’t do to make your life better and brighter. And maybe it started because Wes didn’t immediately want to be his friend, but in truth, there was just something about him that spoke to his soul.

The three of them make life goals. They are utterly adorable together.

This is going to be short because I read it a while ago (like a whole 3 days, whew).

This started off weird. I liked Braden and Wes in the previous book, but I didn't like how pushy and inappropriate Braden was at the start... Flirting with a guy at this SISTER's FUNERAL? go, die. now.

But then, I was sold. Braden was adorable, I love how he immediately volunteered to help Wes with Jessie, the little niece Wes was left to take care of. Wes was trying his best, and I saw a lot of people criticise how he was pushing Braden away, but that's protection mechanism! Good for him! They really grew into their feelings for the other and they spent a lot of time together and they were exactly what the other needed and that was lovely.

I was so sure I wouldn't like it so much, because usually having a child thrown in the middle of my ship is not my thing, but it ended up being my favourite of the series.

4.5 stars, rounding up because it was that good. Had a few tiny editing glitches, an awkward sentence or two, but nothing major.

I loved loved loved Braden, and it took me a bit to warm up to Wes, but I understood why he was the way he was. And Jessie was just adorable, maybe a bit mature for her age, but not too over the top.

Wes has lost so many people in his life- his dad walked out, his mom was killed in an accident, his boyfriend of 5 years walked out on him, then his beloved sister died, leaving him with a 4 year old to raise. Braden is happy go lucky, fun loving, he never settles down. But there is just something about Wes that Braden can't stay away from. What started out as a one night stand grew to be more, first with Braden helping out with Jessie, then as friends with benefits, and then became so much more.

Wes had a hard time letting himself believe that Braden would stay, which I understood, even if it frustrated me at times. Braden's family was particularly awesome, probably one of the most supportive families I've read about in a while.

And the little bits of info we got about Braden's ex, Gavin, was just enough to get me curious, and hope he comes back to town to tell his story in a future book.

I’ll grant this an extra half star this go around. I’ve come to appreciate Riley Hart’s stories. They usually have just the right amount of struggle, appropriate angst, and a good amount of heat.

Braden is intrigued by Wes. The fact that Wes wants nothing to do with him doesn't dissuade him in the least. Braden concedes that being only friends with him is probably for the best, seeing as how Wes is overwhelmed by loss and his new responsibilities. The thing is, for some reason, Braden simply can’t stay away.

Wes knows he isn’t the easiest guy to get along with. He’s serious, a bit closed off, and has a shit ton on his plate. The last thing he needs or wants is a relationship, despite being pursued by a hot guy who just doesn’t comprehend the meaning of “no”. However, circumstance makes him rely on Braden reluctantly, making it hard for Wes to deny his attraction to him. It’s not surprising that they give in to their desires despite all of Wes’s reluctance and doubts.

For me this still lacked the emotional oomph that [b:Collide|18773407|Collide (Blackcreek, #1)|Riley Hart|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1384023158l/18773407._SX50_.jpg|24668720] had, and hence the lower rating. However, this was easy reading, and it was nice to visit previous couple Noah and Cooper. So overall, a good story about opening up to new possibilities and risking all for happiness. I don’t see many complaining about such a setup, especially when accompanied with a liberal amount of smexy.

For some reason, this did not quite do it for me as the first book in the series. Overall a good book with heat, angst, and humor. However the need for better editing ruined the pacing and decreased my enjoyment.
