For an interesting premise, the story itself is extremely boring.

While I felt the pace was a little slow for the first half of this book, when things started to fall into place I found it both incredibly entertaining and wildly unrealistic. I'm not the kind of person who needs hyperrealism in order to enjoy a story, though, so I found I wasn't really bothered by the things that made me go "This would never actually happen." I was completely at a loss as to who Matthew really was and found the reveal exciting and unexpected. This isn't the kind of thing you can analyze with a fine-toothed comb and still take seriously, but it was a really fun read nonetheless and I enjoyed it immensely.

Pretty disappointed here! It felt like the author was trying to emulate Bourne or something, but it was a poor attempt. Every character was one-dimensional, the internal dialogue was awkward, and the author would randomly break from internal dialogue to talk directly to the reader for a sentence.

The family drama was such a let down, I thought the father was a killer or something… and instead he defrauded people of under £1 million, which caused a murder attempt against his daughter 15 years later?? Sure.

And then the whole Matthew storyline completely fell apart for me. I barely had any interest to uncover that mystery, and the resulting discovery was both convoluted and horribly banal. I had so many ideas of how it might end, and I was completely let down.

Just okay. Disappointed with the last quarter of the book. Was expecting Mr Nobody to be someone else.

My gripes with this book- writing was sooooo slow and dull. Ending was great but not worthy of pulling my star rating up

My gripe with her first book (something in the water)- writing was great but ending was dumb, cliche, and overdone.

Will she get it right in the third book? Good writing AND a good plot/ending? To be honest I’m not sure it’s worth another ready to see. Jury is still out
