In this collection of short stories ranging from silly to grim it is curiously common for ideas and people to be defended, legitimized, and challenged at the same time. Father Brown stands out as a wonderful, honest character whose job actually helps and makes sense with being available and effective when faced with crime. A wonderful book to revisit often.
