After reading the first two books, I couldn’t wait to find out what was going on with Wyatt, and boy did it live up to my hopes! Wyatt might be my favorite Hayden yet. His story and background was so deep and interesting as well as Jo’s. Every book I read from this author just keeps getting better and better!

The Outlaw is book 3 in the Hayden Family series and follows the third brother, Wyatt.
He was always the silent, hidden brother so obviously I was dying for his book and to get inside his head. This did not disappoint! Wyatt is now my favorite Hayden Bro.

Wyatt is grossly misunderstood by his dad and to varying degrees his siblings. It seems the women in the family that have married in see more of the real Wyatt than anyone else.

I was intrigued with Jo’s backstory as well. We are introduced to her early in the series and only get snippets of her interacting with Wyatt until this book. I loved her growth in this book!

So much love and swoon worthy behaviors take place in this book. Along with a dose of outlaw behaviors.

I’ve been eagerly waiting for Wyatt’s story and it was so worth the wait. This story is so rich in the depth of emotions and character development. Wyatt is so much more than the bad boy, wild Hayden brother everyone seems to believe he is. He definitely is one sexy cowboy who sees more than most and has deep emotions.

Jo joined the series as a secondary character that Dakota befriends when she is in town to develop land for her father’s company. Jo pretty much flew under my radar, seen but not really someone I focused too much interest on. She is actually a very nuanced character with a difficult past that she has overcome. She was the new kid in high school when she was 16 and she quickly developed a crush on Wyatt. Now years later, she’s moved beyond her feelings for Wyatt (so she thinks) and is dating the ‘kind and good’ local banker.

I think this was my favorite book in the Hayden series. It has so much packed into its pages that I was thoroughly engaged from beginning to end. The story has angst, romance, family dramas, and lots of emotion.

I received an ARC from the author and Hidden Gems, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wyatt is definitely my favorite Hayden brother. There's just something about him.....he let's everyone believe whatever they want about all the things he does, even though deep down, he just wants to be recognized as worthy by his family, especially his dad.

Jo really wants to stay angry with him, but she has her own secrets she's dealing with.

Little by little, they work together, get past each others defenses, help people along the way and figure out what's best for them.

This was a good read! The writing flowed well from start to finish, and I really loved Jo and Wyatt together! Wyatt thought of himself as the black sheep of his family, and I understand why he felt that way. It was hard for him to think of himself as anything other than a screw up, even though he was always helping people. It was nice to see him and his dad start to work out the problems between them. Jo was a really strong heroine, and I thought she was great for Wyatt. I realized what was going on with Travis early on in the story, and I can't imagine how hard that would have been to go through. I wish there was a little more closure with that, but it was a happy for now ending with them. I loved seeing Wyatt's siblings come together when they thought he might be in trouble. The Hayden family is one of my favorites. I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Jessie gets into!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This was more what I thought the second book was going to be like. Wyatt is definitely the most emotionally deep and intelligent brother. He is definitely a romantic. I would not call this book enemies to lovers or second chance romance, I think it’s more popular but misunderstood guy/shy girl.

I did feel this book had quite a few kind of wild plot points that didn’t feel necessary.
Travis being Jo’s son instead of brother had zero impact on the plot. Sara conveniently being a psychologist in the exact field Jo needed was a bit far fetched. And I thought the proposal was far too fast, the book showed us no conversations about what they wanted out of life. <\spoiler> I also feel the previous books set up Wyatt’s back story personally, I was expecting he went through an extremely tragic event that his parents knew he was working through and gave him leeway, but it was an extremely private thing he went through.
I think this book would have been greatly improved by Wyatt’s parents knowing about his suicidal thoughts and near attempt.<\spoiler>

I really disliked how this book handle domestic abuse. There was no sympathy for the victims and immense sympathy for the abuser. It also sets up a redemption  for the abuser.

Finally, this author has a few weird quirks. Like her obsession with Wyatt calling himself and outlaw. And her obsession with the bottom lip.
