I never fail to be amused by how little of a play called "Henry IV" is actuall about the titular character. The King's spotlight is stolen by the more dynamic roles of his son, Hotspur and that infamous rogue Falstaff. Both Parts I and II of Henry IV have always felt more like a prelude to Henry V. Still, it is one of my absolute favorite plays in Shakespeare's vast works, and I regret that it took me so many years to discover it.
