We read this cute book about a field trip to an apple orchard, and then cut open an apple sideways to reveal its star, and chatted about the book as we snacked on the apple.

Eleanor particularly liked it because one of the schoolchildren was named Elinor.

We will definitely re-read this before heading to an apple orchard this fall!

Picture book. Mr. Tiffin's class goes on a field trip to an apple orchard. While there, they try to find the answer to a riddle "Show me a little red house with no windows and no door, but with a star inside." Though many of the students ponder the riddle, it is Tara the daydreamer that eventually solves it. This book doesn't focus on the apple from seed to tree as many other apple books do, but instead focuses more on the harvest of apples and the processing of cider. A cute fall story, this would be best for elementary school readers since there is a large amount of text and the riddle subplot going on.
