I have been savoring this clever and macabre collection of horror poetry section by section. Malotke is a talented poet and brings her education and experience in apparel and costume design to 60 terrifying poems, which reflect upon the deadly ends from many of history's fashion trends. From poisonings to strangulation to lots of women on fire, it's all the more dreadful because it's based in fact. I found The Weight of Society, about a large flammable wig, and Dire Choices, about achieving a tiny waist, especially effective. And the whole section about sewn-on eyelashes made me cringe. Highly recommended for fans of horror, poetry, history, and fashion.
