I Confess is a twisty thriller about 7 childhood friends whose lives are all suddenly catapulted back together one mysterious night in Pilgrim's Point.
The story is told from several different viewpoints and often switches back and forth between different timelines to keep you on the edge of your seat. There's plenty in this story to keep you guessing until the end.
I switched between the eBook and the audiobook and suggest reading the eBook. Unfortunately the one narrator just didn't work for me with all those different points of views. The flow of the ebook is great and keeps tension building right until the end.
A busy, enjoyable and twisty thriller.

What I wanted: a Christie-esque, isolated, closed-circle mystery
What I got: Irish Hollyoaks, except everyone's fucking unhinged, and some of the worst writing I've ever read
I contemplated DNFing within the first 2 chapters, but I persevered because the premise seemed right up my street, and now I can only apologise to my past self for not trusting my instincts
I don't say this lightly, but I genuinely wouldn't recommend this to anyone

I confess follows a group of childhood friends, now well into their adulthood, reuniting for the opening of one of their friends new Inn. However, when a body is found, the guests quickly realise there is a murderer among them.
I really wanted to love this book but unfortunately is just didn't do it for me. To begin, the writing style just wasn't for me. It was a constant stream of conversation with little description of the surroundings. (In fact, the longest paragraph of writing without speech was a sex scene..). This meant there was no atmosphere and I really didn't care for any of the characters.
I just really struggled to understand (or care) what was going on a lot of the time - none of the characters actions made sense to me which is a shame as this plot could have had a lot of potential.
