Solid novella. This one got me on board for this series after being a bit disappointed by The Wrong Brother. We don't have the issue of insta-love in this novella. In fact, besides an initial attraction between 'Robert' (Charles) and Rose, she does not care for him because she believe him of being a man of low morals and character. She could not be more wrong, though. Charles is a great and respectable guy. This is just a case of mistaken identity, no matter how pursposeful and unwanted it is. Which is obviously what a good historial romance is made of!

I felt bad for Charles, he gave up everything so that his brother could live happily-ever-after with HIS wife. And while they go triapsing across Europe together, Charles is left behind and alone, trying to find his way in this new role with a reputation that does not belong to him, not able to interact with his friends from before. But he meets a kindred soul in Rose during a chance meeting at the museum. Once she learns his name, however, her demeanor towards him changes and he is left confused. Unable to let the matter rest, he writes a letter to his brother in order to discover if he had a shared history with her from before he changed his ways. She is determined to avoid him, he is determined to solve this mystery, and Rose's father is determined to foster the obvious attraction between them.

Great novella, just the right length. Robert was redeemed a bit for me in this one. I was glad to see that Isabella was happy and enjoying her marriage, not regretting her choice. And mostly I was happy to see that Charles was able to get the happiness that he deserved, with a woman that is such a good match for him. Perfect quick read if you're looking for a clean historical romance.
