I did not realize this book was written by Pele until I was processing it! This is an excellent book for beginning readers which shares autobiographical information through the lens of, well, the love of soccer. I loved how each spread paired an illustration of Pele with and illustration of children accomplishing a similar feat at their level.

I didn't realize, when I started reading this book, that it was written by Pelé. How cool!
This is a short, quick read, unlike other picture books. Only 10-15 words on a page, if that, some sentences are drawn across several pages. However, brought together, there are some pretty fabulous "mentor sentences," I say with my English teacher hat on.
There is not a lot of *content* about Pelé's life - it would probably not be good as a resource for a research project - but it does show broad strokes of his life with lots of fun pictures.
