I was wondering if Diana was going to get drunk and she did but it’s worded so innocently that Eliana still has no idea what that really means.
Eliana’s review: “I can tell you one person I hate in this book - Diana’s mother. She’s mean and nasty. Was Minnie May drinking that wined too? It makes tummies hurt. I do like the hugging at the end. I can’t believe this is our last Anne book.”

An expurgated version of Anne and Diana's tea party. I hate that this is rewritten to remove Diana's drunken behavior and Marilla's defense of Anne. All the flavor of this story has been removed.

I received a copy of Anne's Tragical Tea Party by Kallie George and pictures by Abigail Halpin from Penguin Random House Canada in exchange for an honest review.
This is the fourth book in the Anne chapter books for young readers, adapted from Anne of Green Gables. And it's one of my absolute favourite early reader's chapter book series. Especially since it is based on my favourite Canadian novel. In this story, Anne invites Diana over for a tea party which turns out disastrously - as is usually the case with Anne. Through an innocent mistake, Anne finds that she is no longer allowed to be friends with Diana. But things work themselves out when Anne is given a chance to prove that she is not always the absentminded and clumsy girl that she can be. This particular story from the original novel is one that is quite iconic and I loved seeing it in these pages. As always, Anne is a character that I think will inspire young children - she makes mistakes, she owns up to them, and she always tries her best anyways. I am looking forward to seeing what will be the next story in this series.
